What makes Tanit Koch a Global Shaker?

An Axel Springer protege, Tanit took on the role of the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Bild in 2013, while also heading the entertainment department. She was appointed the Editor of the German daily in 2016.

Bild is the best-selling non-Asian newspaper and has the eight-largest circulation worldwide. It has been described as “notorious for its mix of gossip, inflammatory language, and sensationalism” and as having a huge influence on German politicians. Its nearest English-language stylistic and journalistic equivalent is often considered to be the British national newspaper The Sun.

Tanit Koch is one of the most influential journalists in continental Europe. The pro-EU tabloid editor of Bild implored the UK to remain with a stroke-of-genius on June 23, 2016, her front page said the Germans would even admit the ball crossed the line in the 1966 World Cup final and stop making fun of Prince Charles’ ears.

Sadly the wit and intentions of Koch proved insufficient, but Koch’s views on how Britain should be treated by Merkel will not go unheeded in the Bundestag.
