Sir Timothy Barrow is a British diplomat who is the current Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the European Union.
Britain’s ambassador to the EU has “overall responsibility” for the UK’s departure from the Union. He became part of the Brexit narrative in 2017 when his predecessor Sir Ivan Rogers stepped down from the role.
His job will be to ensure Britain’s policies are clearly explained to EU member states.
Sir Barrow has a long political career, having been a civil servant in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) since 1986.
Barrow was appointed Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the 1994 New Year Honours, and Lieutenant of the Royal Victorian Order (LVO) the same year.
