What makes Preethi Kasireddy a Global Shaker?
Preethi Kasireddy’s career has taken her from finance and venture capital to software engineering to her most recent initiative: a blockchain-based social media network. She is the founder and CEO of TruStory, a company with a goal of making the internet a more open-minded place to be and foster transparency and humility in online discussion. The social media network encourages productive debates and rewards users with token incentives for the strengths and their ability to be open to opposing arguments.
Before founding TruStory, Preethi worked as a blockchain, smart contract and software engineer in a variety of settings, including Coinbase. For a couple years, she was a partner at Andreessen Horowitz and was involved in investments for Buzzfeed and Stack Exchange. Preethi has also held positions with Goldman Sachs, Panavision and Abbott Laboratories.
She left Andreessen Horowitz to pursue her dream of being a software engineer, even though she had no experience in web development or JavaScript at the time. Now, she’s giving her knowledge back to the community by serving as a volunteer instructor at Mission Bit, an education nonprofit organisation. She teaches introduction to web development class to high school students, helping them learn about HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, DOM manipulation, AJAX, Github basics and more.
Preethi received a bachelor’s in industrial and systems engineering at the University of Southern California and completed the Hack Reactor immersive software engineering programme.
