What makes Nikkie de Jager a Global Shaker?
Nikkie de Jager, more widely known as Nikkie Tutorials, is a Dutch makeup artist and beauty vlogger. She has over 13 million followers on her YouTube channel and has collaborated with Drew Barrymore, Lady Gaga, Snoop Dogg, Ashley Graham, Kim Kardashian, Doutzen Kroes, Kat Von D, Meghan Trainor, and other prominent YouTubers.
Nikkie first became interested in makeup at the age of 14, after watching Lauren Conrad on MTV’s The Hills. She looked for tutorials to recreate the star’s look and became inspired to create her own tutorials in the process. About two years later, she enrolled at B Academy in Amsterdam to study coursework in makeup and beauty.
In 2011, she started working with Colourfool Agency as a professional makeup artist. In 2013, Nikkie became the head makeup artist for the show “I Can Make You a Supermodel,” and the following year, she decided to start working as a freelance makeup artist and hair stylist.
Nikkie’s breakthrough moment on YouTube came the following year, with the debut of her series “The Power of Makeup.”
In 2017, Forbes listed Nikkie as one of the top 10 beauty influencers. That year, she won the YouTube Guru of the Year award at the Shorty Awards, which honours the best content creators and producers on social media, and the award for Choice Fashion/Beauty Web Star at the Teen Choice Awards.
Nikkie was scheduled to be the online host of the Eurovision Song Contest 2020, but the event was canceled due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
