What makes Mike Thompson a Global Shaker?
Mike Thompson has held the position of Chief Executive of the ABPI since 2016. Before that he spent a decade as the senior vice president for global commercial strategy and platforms at GlaxoSmithKline (GSK), one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies.
Thompson currently leads an expert team that represents research-based pharmaceutical companies focused on biosciences in the UK. The team represents the brands of over 80 percent of the medicines that the NHS uses.
A core part of his role is to lobby for the interests of its members and one crucial focus is ensuring that medical and research sectors have access to EU talent and good trade agreements post Brexit.
Thompson studied politics, philosophy and economics at the University of Oxford.
