MindTrace Limited is the brainchild of Dr. Michael Denham, Professor Emeritus of the University of Plymouth, and Dr. Kameliya Dimova. The start-up secured €1.3 million in funding from Accelerated Digital Ventures and the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund at the tail end of 2017.
The tech start-up aims to revolutionize artificial intelligence by designing software algorithms that mimic the way the human brain operates. The company is working towards making intelligent machines capable of unsupervised learning, something which, as of yet, has not been achieved.
“Just as computing technology has served us well by allowing us to make complex computations which are far beyond human capabilities, AI technology will increasingly support us in our ability to make complex and timely decisions, in healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, security, and many other areas, with super-human levels of accuracy, speed and efficiency, enhancing our lives in ways which we are only beginning to understand,” Dr. Denham explained, as reported by Business Green.
Dr. Denham is the company’s CEO and director and works out of Manchester, England. He attained a PhD in control engineering from University College London as well as a bachelor’s in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Birmingham.
