What makes Mark Katakowski a Global Shaker?
Mark Katakowski and his team of scientists are working on something that could get the humankind closer than ever to the fountain of youth. Forever Labs is leading the front on stem cell cryo-storage, which can be used in future to combat ageing.
The research has shown that stem cells increases the life of an average mouse by 16 percent and could work similarly on humans. Dr Katakowski was first to demonstrate that microRNA functions as an intercellular communication molecule between brain tumour cells.
This work led to his finding that bone marrow MSCs communicate with the nervous system via blood-born exosomes. Dr Katakowski’s hypothesis that bone marrow cell degradation contributes to ageing and age-related disease is the founding principle of Forever Labs.
