The President of the European Central Bank has been responsible for dealing with the fallout from the Eurozone’s debt crisis. He will be looking at the economic aspects of Brexit as the negotiations go on.
He has never been in favour of Brexit and has already said that the Central Bank is preparing for any dire repercussions that Brexit might have for the EU. Last year, Draghi speaking to the European Parliament, made it clear that he sees Brexit as a reason for the EU to speed up the passage of regulations which will give the ECB far-reaching powers over clearing houses in London and beyond.
Draghi has served as the Bank’s President since 2011 and was previously the Governor of the Bank of Italy. Before that he worked as a vice chairman and managing director at Goldman Sachs.
