What makes Mai Li Hammargren a Global Shaker?

Mai-Li Hammargren is an entrepreneur from Stockholm. In 2008, Mai-Li founded the company Mutewatch – a pioneer in wearable technology – while she was still a student at Stockholm School of Economics.

In 2011, the product launched in 150 top tier retailers, such as Colette in Paris, Selfridges in London and MoMA in New York.

The founding team has received awards such as Young Entrepreneur of the Year (2011) by Founders Alliance, Red Dot Design Award (2012) for Industrial Design, and ’100 of the Most Important Innovations from Sweden’ by the National Museum of Science and Technology in Stockholm.

Mai-Li was recently announced as one of the 36 women taking part in the launch of Women up in Sweden, a leadership program which falls under Hillary Clinton’s International Council on Women’s Business Leadership and is held by McKinsey & Company.

In 2014 she became CMO of Lookback, a UX research product made by former Spotify developers.

And in 2018 she took on the role of ‘intrapreneur’ for IHM Business School — a role mynewsdesk describes as “an entrepreneur with the task of creating a more innovative culture and inspiring Swedish companies to use entrepreneurs to increase the pace of innovation.”

“Education means so much to a person’s development and opportunities,” she says. “My vision with the efforts at IHM is that everyone, even those who do not have the time to go to a traditional education, should be able to grow as people and in their professional role.”
