José Manuel Entrecanales leads Acciona, one of Spain’s largest operations in developing infrastructure and renewable energies. His tenure as Chairman and CEO has transformed the former engineering and construction company into a massive conglomerate with more than 30,000 employees over five continents, creating emission-free renewable energy for more than six million homes across the world.
Under the direction of Entrecanales, Acciona has been consistently recognised for its commitment to sustainability: it was the only Spanish company to be ranked in the ‘A list’ for sustainable water management by CDP, formerly known as the Carbon Disclosure Project. He also recently announced that the company has a pipeline of renewable energy projects totalling 7,500 MW to be developed worldwide.
Entrecanales graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of Madrid, and began his career with Merrill Lynch in 1985, before moving to Acciona – the family business – in 1991.
