Janos Barberis is a leader in South East Asia’s financial services community and founded SuperCharger – a fintech accelerator based in Hong Kong. The initiative is backed by an impressive list of tier 1 financial institutions including Standard Chartered Bank and Allianz. Janos says the accelerator stands for vision and belief.
Its purpose is to help fintech start-ups and scale-ups expand in Asia with offices in Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur. Barberis is a millennial with a lot of influence within the sector. He sits on the fintech advisory boards of the World Economic Forum and the Securities & Futures Commission (SFC).
He is a huge proponent of regtech, asserting that if the technology had already been developed the 2008 financial crisis could have been avoided. He is also the Asia lead officer at the digital finance institute, the co-founder and co-editor of the FINTECH Book and a PhD candidate and research fellow at the Teh University of Hong Kong.
