Gao Shixing (高始兴) is the CEO of AiSpeech (思必驰), based in Suzhou. As China powers ahead with its investment into artificial intelligence, Shixing is the man at the forefront of the development of voice recognition technology and processing. AiSpeech offers high-level speech recognition and interaction solutions for home appliances as well as smart devices. Its tools have already been used by Sony and InWatch Z, among others.
The Cambridge University graduate has spoken of the difficulties of industrializing speech recognition, as it is based on an acoustic model which, of course, varies in different languages. Another challenge is filtering surrounding noise and recognizing and correcting speaking mistakes users may make. Shixing is devoted to fixing these issues to develop the best quality, intuitive, AI voice recognition technology.
“Starting such a business is like running a marathon,” he stated, according to China Daily. “We will continue to promote technological innovation and integrate more advanced technologies into industries in the future.”
Shixing founded the company in 2007 and received $15 million in funding during a Series B round of financing. AiSpeech raised $30 million in a financing round in 2016 and $76 million during a Series D funding round led by Oriza Holdings and China Minsheng Investment Group in 2018.
