What makes Fredrika Gullfot a Global Shaker?
In recent years, we are becoming ever more aware of the incredible health benefits of kelp and algae and Fredrika Gullfot is at the forefront of this health movement.
She is the founder of Simris Alg, a pioneering agribusiness from Sweden growing algae to produce “algal supergoodies,” natural superfoods from cultivated algae.
Contrary to popular belief, fish don’t actually make brain-boosting omega-3’s; they consume them from algae, kelp and seaweed. Thus, Fredrika set out to challenge the Omega3 industry with a superior and sustainable alternative to fish oil.
Simris Alg manufactures Sweden’s first exclusive, close-knit, environmentally friendly and plant-based marine omega-3 from natural algae — a non-GMO alternative to traditional supplements.
Gullfot holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden. She has received multiple awards for her ground-breaking work with Simris Alg, including the Swedish Chemical Engineering Prize and the WIRED UK Innovation fellowship.
Simris Alg went public on First North in 2016 and has already started its expansion to the U.S.
