What makes Duan Lianxiang a Global Shaker?

Vehicle engineer expert Duan Lianxiang is head of R&D at electric car startup Byton, which is aiming to become a major playing in the burgeoning electric vehicle market in China. Following a current round of fundraising, the company is soon expected to be valued at $2.5bn.

Lianxiang has been instrumental in the development of Byton’s upcoming first model, the M-Byte, which will be released later in 2019 following production at the company’s $1.6bn plant. It offers a large interactive display and interaction through gestures and voice control.

“Our difference from traditional carmakers is we can do it faster as we have only one model,” Lianxiang said in an interview with China Daily. “We focus all our resources on its development and finish all validation processes efficiently, without bypassing any of them.”

Before joining the company, Lianxiang was Vice President of Changan PSA, overseeing areas including product planning, research and development, and supply chain management.
