It’s almost impossible to categorise Donald Glover. At just 35 years of age, the US has made a name as a stand-up comic, TV and Film screenwriter, actor and director, and internationally renowned singer and rapper. He’s won Emmy awards and Grammy awards, and featured in Time magazine’s 2017 list of the “100 Most Influential People in The World”.
Following internet acclaim while at university through sketch group Derrick Comedy, Glover got his big break at 23 as a writer for sitcom 30 Rock. He then acted as the character Troy Barnes in the TV show Community, leading to key roles in major films Spiderman: Homecoming and Star Wars: A Solo Story. He is voicing Simba, the main character, in the upcoming remake of The Lion King.
Glover writes, executive produces, stars in and directs the show Atlanta, for which he’s won a Golden Globe for Best Comedy or Musical Television Series, and an Emmy for Outstanding Directing.
On top of this, as his musical alter ego Childish Gambino, Glover has won five Grammy awards, including Grammy for both Record and Song of the year for ‘This Is America’ — the first rap song to ever receive the award.
