David Neuberger is a British Lawyer turned Judge and has served as the President of the Supreme Court of Britain from 2012 to 2017.
His rise to the Court of Appeal and then to the House of Lords is one of the quickest in recent times. In fact at the time of appointment Neuberger was the youngest sitting Law Lord.
David Neuberger, the UK’s top judge led an 11-strong team in the Supreme Court to decide if the Government needed parliamentary ascension to legally approve the triggering of Article 50.
The Brexit Bill was passed by both houses of parliament in 2017.
Neuberger criticised the government for “not protecting the country’s judicial system” from criticisms made by the media. In an interview with the BBC, he said: “I think some of what was said was undermining the rule of law”.
