Darienne Flemington is co-Chair of ILGA-Europe, the European branch of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans & Intersex Association. The organisation produces an annual ranking of rights and freedoms in each country, finding both the most and least-friendly places to visit or live as a person who identifies as LGBT+.
ILGA-Europe brings together nearly 600 organisations from 54 countries and has been in operation since 1996.
Flemington has been a strong advocate for equality for over 20 years, and was a founder member of the Stonewall Immigration Group. She works in local government as a Staffside Representative and is Co-Chair of the biggest public service trade union in the UK’s UNISON’s, National LGBT Committee.
