Dame Carolyn McCall is a renowned British businesswoman who in 2018 became the first female CEO of ITV, the largest commercial terrestrial television in the United Kingdom. The network has vied with publicly-owned BBC One for the status as the UK’s most watched channel since the 1950s.
McCall was born in Bangalore, India. She joined the Guardian Media Group in 1986, rising through the ranks to become CEO in 2006. She left four years later to become Chief Executive of Easy Jet, a position she held for 7 years, during which time the airline reached record profit and achieved record passenger numbers. She has held non-executive director positions at Lloyds, Tesco and clothing brand New Look.
The businesswoman received her damehood in 2016, as well as a Legion d’honneur from the French government. She holds a master’s degree in politics from the University of London.
