Former investigative reporter Christophe Deloire is General Secretary of Reporters Without Borders, a world-renowned NGO promoting and defending the freedom to report and receive news and information. It monitors and denounces media freedom violations, urges governments to stop censoring, gives moral and financial support to persecuted journalists and provides war reporters with material assistance designed to improve their safety.
The organisation produces an index of world press freedom, tracking the decline of the number of countries in which journalists can work in complete security. It has an active network of 150 correspondents in all five continents.
Prior to work with Reporters Without Borders, Deloire was Director of the Paris-based Journalists Training Centre (CFJ), from 2008 to 2012. He was also an investigative reporter for the politics and society sections of the French news magazine Le Point from 1998 to 2007.
