Carly Pifer is a Brooklyn-based writer and content creator and has written about sex, dating, and women’s health for Vice, Refinery29 and Brooklyn Magazine, and created digital content and creative for brands such as Perrier, Juice Generation, and Burrow.
She is currently building Aurore, a women-powered site for real sex stories. Aurore describes itself as an empowering community and safe space for people to record and explore good sex and educate others. Carly’s aim is to update the genre of erotica for a modern, sophisticated reader.
Pifer told Bushwick Daily that the idea for Aurore sparked when she “Tindered her way through Europe”, going on dates and interviewing people about sex and relationships in their culture.
“As I was writing it all up, I couldn’t think of anywhere to pitch it, and everything clicked in this weird way, and I decided to start Aurore.”
Aurore will focus on submissions from feminist writers, queer writers and women of colour and writers will be paid.
Carly says that Aurore is “modern erotica, it’s honest and relatable, and it’s real (mostly).”
