Manchester-born business-bruiser Benjamin Shalom is Founder of Ultimate Boxxer, a new fighting format that has received support of boxing superstars Ricky Hatton, Paulie Malignaggi and Anthony Crolla.
The concept sees eight professional boxers compete in a knockout tournament fashion to take home a large cash prize. The innovation is the guaranteed fee: each fighter is paid £2,000, regardless of ticket sales, representing a significant step up from the £400 commonly provided to lower-level boxers..
A keen boxer himself, Shalom has positioned the company as a challenge to an industry previously divided neatly between promoters and ticketing agencies. Ultimate Boxxer uses live music performances and exclusive partnerships with streaming services, such as Facebook Live, to engage more casual boxing fans who may otherwise only watch a handful of matches per year.
Shalom graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Nottingham in 2015. Whilst studying, he founded a takeaway delivery business, Munchies, which recently sold its rights to a burger chain.
