Anna Wallace is the Head of the Innovation Hub at the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK. It is an innovation lab within a regulator which identifies how to regulate fintech companies in the UK to protect consumers and ensure there is fruitful competition.
The Innovation Hub was set up in 2013 when the government realised it needed an arm to deal with the blossoming number of fintech start-ups in the country, most notably in London. Her aim is to create an ecosystem where these fintechs can prosper, and to reduce the time and cost it will take companies to gain entry into the UK market.
Wallace is clearly a big supporter of fintech start-ups and will have a vital role to play with regards to how these companies will operate within the UK. She is also responsible for the Scottish legislation that prohibited tobacco displays in shops when working at the Scottish government.
