Andy Murray is regarded as one of the best tennis players that the United Kingdom has ever produced, becoming the first Brit in over 80 years to win the celebrated Wimbledon championship, held in the UK.
The former world number one is now using his winnings to invest in the world of UK start-ups by working with investment crowdfunding platform Seedrs. Murray’s portfolio boasts investments into more than 30 ventures, including Den, which produces innovative technological solutions for households, and Morpher, which has created a foldable cycling helmet.
“I’m interested in technology so that’s what appeals to me about startups – working with businesses that have identified a problem that can be solved by technology,” Murray said in an interview with Forbes in 2018.
He has also invested multiple times in Landbay, a specialist mortgage marketplace lender, which has to date lent over £100m ($131m) with no defaults or losses.
