Amber Atherton was born in Hong Kong and may be recognisable to most from her appearances on the reality tv series, Made in Chelsea. However, Atherton’s focus has always been on enterprise. At the age of 17 she founded the e-commerce start-up, My Flash Trash, which she sold for around £2 million in 2016.
Atherton’s most recent project is Zyper, which is backed by the accelerator Y-combinator. Zyper wants to open up the world of sponsored content that sees an elite group of celebrities get paid for their posts to regular consumers. The advertising start-up will let companies identify their biggest advocates on social media and invite them to join marketing campaigns in return for rewards and experiences.
Atherton has modelled for various publications as a teenager and learned to code as a child. For someone so young she has already had a number of successful businesses, including My Flash Trash which saw the e-commerce platform’s jewellery worn by Rhianna and Suki Waterhouse. Zyper is set to be Atherton’s first successful foray into the adtech space.
